Here's how you can get involved...

All MALS members are warmly invited to join a working group to help us defend our civil and political rights!
As a working group team member you will help provide critical activist legal support to diverse and powerful social movements throughout Victoria.
Each working group has two conveners who will welcome you to the team, convene online and in-person team meetings, and help coordinate projects and tasks. Each team will report to and work closely with the MALS Organising Body.

Media & Comms Team

Tell our story, advocate for our work and ensure we’re getting the right information to the people who need it at the right time by joining the Media & Communications team. You could work across media relations, social media or a number of other communications activities.

|
|
Social-Wellbeing Team
| |
The Social & Wellbeing Team aims to promote a strong culture of community care, socio-emotional health & wellbeing and seeks to safeguard against burn-out. Key focuses of the group will be to proactively identify barriers to these aims, create opportunities to deal with wellbeing issues & collective traumas, organising social events to support MALS community connection, and establishing practices so we can do this work safely and sustainably.

Research, Writing & Resources Team

|
The Research, Writing & Resources working group is a great way to support activist movements with useful and up-to-date information. This group will do legal research to write articles, blog posts, and reports, and create activist legal resources, guides and education materials. Tasks will be delegated according to interest. Legal and human rights researchers and writers, please get involved!

Fundraising Team

The Fundraising working group will organise annual fundraising drives, seek and apply for grants, and generally keep MALS going! If you have skills or interest in organising events, writing grant applications, or building relationships with donors, please get in touch.

|
|
Training Team
| |
|
The Training Team organises and runs Legal Observer & Legal Observer Team Coordinator training as well as other workshops on legal rights, police powers, and activist legal support. People with training and legal experience are very welcome.
